1.Are you enjoying collaborating with a peer, describe what is successful and what is more challenging?

Collaborating with my peer means there should be effective communication. So far sharing each other's ideas has been successful as both of us have shared commitment to the project's goals. It is very enjoyable to compare hobbies, likes, perspectives but most importantly design preferences. At first, it is challenging to match creative visions, but as we progress we gain more insights on how each of us work and how we might come with solutions to our problems. If this would be a real life case where the client is seeking your service, also conflicting schedules would be a problem that may arise.

2. What is your design response to the brief?

My design response to the brief involves creating a cable organizer tool for my client that aligns with user-centered design principles. Through discussions with my client and analyzing the primary research, I gained insights into his habits, behaviors, and preferences related to cable management. Understanding that my client values organization and efficiency in his daily life, I identified the need for a solution that streamlines the storage and accessibility of cables used for his activities.

Considering the issues outlined in the brief, such as the importance of designing specifically for the client and ensuring appropriateness for their use, I focused on developing a tool that caters to their unique needs and preferences. By prioritizing functionality, ease of use, and adaptability, I aim to enhance my client's experience with cable management and contribute to their enjoyment of his chosen activities.

Throughout the design process, I will engage inprototyping to refine the cable organizer, experimenting with materials and processes to optimize its performance. By documenting this process, I will capture the evolution of the design and ensure that it remains grounded in user insights and feedback. Ultimately, my goal is to deliver a tailored solution that not only meets my client's needs but also reflects their personality and lifestyle.

The context of my proposal focuses on user-centered design, mainly on understanding and addressing the specific needs and preferences of my client. The context encompasses the client's hobbies, activities, behaviors, and traits, as well as their desire for a tool that enhances their chosen activity. The proposal seeks to create a solution that seamlessly integrates into the client's lifestyle, providing practical functionality while also reflecting their personal style and preferences. Additionally, the context includes considerations of materials, processes, and usability, ensuring that the final design aligns with both the client's needs and functionality.

4. Describe how you propose to interpret and explore your partners habits and hobbies in your work.

To interpret and explore my client's habits and hobbies, I will begin by analyzing the primary research, engaging in communication to gain deeper insights into their lifestyle. Since my client has many gadgets, indicating a passion for technology and possibly a busy, tech-centric lifestyle, I aim to focus on improving organization as a key aspect of my design solution. By understanding my client's habits and preferences related to their gadgets, I will explore ways to research and design cable management and device organization, ensuring that the final design aligns with their needs and enhances their daily routine.

5. What is the function/purpose/concept of the proposed design options you have so far explored? What are the common themes?

The function and concept of the proposed design options I have explored so far revolve around addressing the need for effective cable organization and gadget management for my client. The primary goal is to create a tool that streamlines the storage and accessibility of cables, adapters, and devices, thereby reducing clutter and enhancing usability in his tech environment.

Cable Management: All design options incorporate features or mechanisms specifically tailored to manage cables efficiently, such as cable clips, routing channels, or integrated cable storage compartments.

Accessibility: Each design prioritizes easy access to cables and devices, ensuring that they are readily available whenever needed without creating a mess or tangle.

Modularity: Many design options offer modular components or configurations, allowing flexibility to adapt the organization system to different gadgets and setups.

The primary user for the proposed design options is my client, Tejinder , whose habits, hobbies, and tech-centric lifestyle drive the need for effective cable organization and gadget management. The client's daily activities likely involve frequent interaction with various electronic devices, such as laptops, smartphones, tablets, and gaming consoles, resulting in a significant number of cables, chargers, and adapters that require organization and accessibility. Therefore, the design options aim to cater specifically to the client's needs and preferences in managing their technology-related accessories. While the client is the primary user, the design may also be suitable for individuals with similar tech-heavy lifestyles who seek efficient cable organization solutions.

7. What kind of primary and secondary research is your design proposal inspired by?

The design proposal is inspired by a combination of primary and secondary research, tailored to my client's preferences and interests, including their admiration for designers such as Zaha Hadid, Jony Ive, and Philippe Starck, with a particular focus on objects like the Juicy Salif lemon squeezer for its materiality.Primary research involves direct engagement with my client to understand his specific needs, preferences, and aesthetic sensibilities. Through discussions, and observations, insights gathered regarding their design preferences, material choices, and desired functionality.Secondary research consists on the exploration of existing designers, as well as other relevant products and concepts. Analysis of these designers' works, particularly notable pieces like Philippe Starck's lemon squeezer, provides valuable insights into innovative materials, forms, and approaches to product design.

By combining primary insights with secondary research findings, the design proposal aims to incorporate elements inspired by my client's favourite designers while addressing their specific requirements for the cable organization tool. This approach ensures that the final design resonates with the client's design sensibilities while offering practical solutions to their cable management needs.
